Add a new dimension to your event in the Great Smoky Mountains with classic country, mountain and gospel music along with tasteful humor that everyone will enjoy!
Bob Brittle
Born July 31, 1939 in Tampa, Florida
My dad, Gabriel Brittle would play guitar and sing old country songs like “You Are My Sunshine”, “If I Had the Wings of an Angel”, etc. while we sat around the living room or front porch. Also, my mother (Eileen) & sister (Betty), with whom I didn’t live, sang duets while my mother played guitar or my grandmother played piano. Usually, my mother played outside by a fire built in the yard. My grandmother, Emily de Castro, was born in England and also played classical piano.
At an early age I learned to enjoy singing & harmonizing. While in my teens, my dad started to teach me to play the guitar & I’ve been playing ever since. In 7th grade I started to learn trombone & played in the band thru high school.
In high school I sang in a 50’s doo-wap (rock & roll) quartet.
Since then I have sung in Gospel & barbershop quartets.
Over the years I organized & directed various church choirs.
Back in the 90’s, I started playing & singing for nursing homes in Clarksville, TN, where I was living at the time, & found I enjoyed playing for folks who enjoyed the old classic country & gospel songs. During this same period of time, I was coming each year to vacation at Oakmont, a condo complex in Pigeon Forge. Ron Sullivan was playing for a weekly dinner at Oakmont. He had quite a group of regular fans, including me. I thought I would enjoy doing what he was doing & determined to do the same thing when I moved to this area.
When I did move here, Ron let me sit in with him at his dinner programs & sing & play some songs on my own. Then in 2000 Russell Fox & I started a regular Thursday evening program at Elkmont Campground Amphitheatre which lasted 3 seasons. Since then I have performed programs for various functions, including receptions, church programs, parties, meetings, Wilderness Wildlife Week (PF), Boyd’s Bears, Gatlinburg Heritage Festival, Pittman Center Heritage Festival, etc. I have entertained folks at Wellington Place, Asst. Care Fac., monthly for the last 3 years. I now enjoy singing classic country, mountain, gospel, & 40’s & 50’s pop music. I sing, whistle, yodel, & play guitar with CD backup tracks.
